Meet Stephanie!

She was lifting some heavy logs while enjoying the lovely mid-west weather in early March when she severely injured her back. The pain started out as mild and she was hoping it would just go away. She has struggled with low back pain previously and figured things would soon return to normal. A few weeks later, that mild pain turned into barely able to walk, shooting pain and numbness down her left leg and a visit to the emergency room. Unfortunately, the visit left her with no relief to an exacerbated lumbar disc injury and sciatica, anti-inflammatory medications, and a painful injection.

Luckily, she found us on Google and was thrilled we were still open during Covid19 shutdowns. Yesterday we wanted to celebrate that after 7 Chiropractic+Kinesiology treatments starting 4/9/20, she is able to walk without the use of a cane! Thumbs up to her success and healing! We look forward to her continued journey back to health!

Meet Madison!

She is 11 years old and had headaches 2x/week on average for as long as she (and her mother) can remember. Sometimes she would feel so nauseous that she would vomit or have a sudden onset of asthma symptoms or severe bouts of constipation.

Since 2/1/19 Maddison has only had 1 headache and it wasn’t even from the strawberries. What an amazing story!

The best part is she can now get back to what she loves which is playing sports, cheerleading, and spending time with her friends and family – pain free and full of energy.

I’m so so grateful to be able to share this story about Maddison! Not all recovery from chronic headaches is over fruit or food for that matter. However, the BEST way to recovery is always to investigate the root cause!

Meet Henry!

He is a 17 year old senior in high school and a competitive varsity cross country runner. In 2016 during his freshman year, he started have severe health problems. During running or after running, he would collapse with headaches, dizziness, slurring of words, and vomiting. He literally could not stand up at times and felt severe exhaustion. He also had unexplained blood sugar dysregulation especially during or after running. He has struggled with these symptoms throughout his entire high school career in cross country.

Henry started treatment on 10/2/19. We did some investigation and found that most of Henry’s complaints were due to emotional stress. After doing some Neuro- Emotional Technique (NET), chiropractic adjustments, and support with some nutrition and homeopathy….well- Henry came in FIRST PLACE in the regional meet this past weekend!!! Henry had ZERO symptoms during or after his race. This was his first race since 2016 feeling better. We are so excited for him and wish him the best of luck at the state meet this weekend on 11/2/19! GO HENRY!

Meet Matthew!

He is 9 years old and he loves to run! We are celebrating today because he met his goal of running one mile in 5 minutes and 28 seconds! SO fast! His new goal is 5:17!

His parents brought him to the office 5/16/19 when his running was being affected by some lower abdominal pain. We figured out he was allergic to corn and cod fish (and a few other foods later on) causing slow digestion, dysbiosis or yeast overgrowth in his colon, and constipation. This inflammatory reaction was also causing issues in his small intestine which was affecting his abdominal muscles and his quadriceps. Ultimately, it was impeding his performance and slowing his runs down. We used chiropractic treatments to restore proper joint and muscle function in his core, hips, and legs and also made some dietary changes.
We are so excited for Matthew’s race next weekend!

Meet Joe!

He has been a chiropractic client at CKC since 2014! Last week he made a long road trip and did lots of sitting and driving. As a result of being stationary for prolonged periods, his low back/hips, upper back, and neck started to be painful. He was also experiencing continuous stiffness and soreness throughout his body upon returning home.

If we sit in the same posture for extended periods of time, it puts STRESS on the muscles, joints, and ligaments in the body. Sitting especially stresses the low back, tailbone, and hips. Prolonged sitting can not only lead to pain or discomfort, but also poor blood circulation or cold hands and feet. Poor circulation or vascular insufficiency can exacerbate or contribute to more serious health conditions/risks such as cardiovascular disease or Diabetes.

So…if you sit at work or plan to take a long road trip- make sure to take a break from sitting/driving to get up and move around. Outside of taking breaks, exercises to strengthen core and improve posture will help your body to be more resilient when under mechanical stress from prolonged sitting or standing.
